MY Thai gf can not hear, no job and basically no money in the bank. She is a recent college graduate. We have never met in real life but have cprresponded via email for 7 months. I plan to visit Thai in July. Does anyone think that because of her disablity she will have an easier time getting a tourist visa? How much money is required to have in her bank account? Any comments would be appreciated. Aloha

It probably won't make a lot of difference. Mind you, you haven't told us where you are from, or any other pertinent information about you or her, or how long you might want her to visit your homeland. The absence of money or a job won't make it easy for you. There are no compelling reasons for her to return home after the visit, and most countries look for them before granting a visitor visa.

Sorry for the lack of detail. Im from USA. She would like to come for 4- 6 months. Are there any other details that would be helpful?

Contact the US consulate in Thailand for the requirements, but i can tell you for a 4-6 months visa, it will be very hard. Usually she will get 1 month, if lucky 3 months. They rarely give out 6 month entry stamps now, not even to managers of large corporations. She will need to show ties back to Thailand that ensure she will depart the US again when her stay expires, such as a job, obligations, etc.

I know this sounds tough but that's how it is. I've been in a LD relationship before, so i know how you must feel right now, but hang in there.

Here is link Non Imm FAQ that will answer most of your questions.

I have read that the length of entry stamps is being limited, but everyone I know that has gone in the last 2 years since this supposdly started has been given 6 months, including my wife.

Thanks to all who have made comments! This has been a great help for us. She will attend her graduation ceremony in March. Is that considered to be a"compelling ties" as stated in the US emabssy page. She also has elderly parents to care for and has traveled abroad to France and Austrailia before. She does do some work for the family farm. Does traveling abroad before and returning improve her situation? Aloha!
