Thailand has seen an increase in cases of covid 19 since the songkran holiday, Doctors say  most of these are a sub variant of Omicron which has become a “variant of interest" globally according to the world health organization. Doctors advise getting a booster shot before the rainy season arrives. 
 
Three individuals were apprehended for impersonating security personnel, presenting a fake arrest warrant, and demanding 3.1 million baht from a man and his family in Bangkok.. The event occurred on April 11th, when four men arrived at the residence of a Chinese man who held Cambodian citizenship, along with his Thai wife and children. The family later lodged a report with authorities, resulting in arrests being made during the weekend. Police discovered 25 items of interest, including military headwear, jackets, and leather bags.

A security guard fatally stabbed a motorcycle taxi rider and then fled on the victim's motorcycle. He was later arrested while drinking with friends in Saraburi. The police in Nonthaburi were informed of the incident and found the victim dead by the road with multiple stab wounds. Using surveillance footage, investigators tracked down the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.

 

Thailand's met office says the hot season has past its peak with the highest temperature recorded was 44.6 C in Tak province on 14th of April the department suggests temperatures will moderate as we approach the rainy season which is due in the middle of May.

Myanmar: A top election official was fatally shot in his car in Yangon,  in the latest attack attributed to a group opposed to military rule. The deputy director-general of the military-appointed Union Election Commission, was shot multiple times. A resistance group calling itself ‘For The Yangon’ said it carried out the attack. Sai Kyaw Thu is believed to be the most senior official of the Election Commission to be shot since the army seized power in February, 2021
