Generally, the test for the BRCA2 mutation involves taking a blood sample from you, which is a simple process that involves using a needle and syringe and can be done almost anywhere. The blood is then sent for testing, which is a complex procedure that can only be done in a few places. From my understanding, most well-known private hospitals offer this test, which typically takes a few weeks for the results to come in, and the cost can be in the tens of thousands of baht.

I would add that in men, while the presence of a BRCA2 mutation increases the risk of prostate and pancreatic cancer (linkage to colon cancer is not clear, studies have been conflicting), it does not do so at anywhere near the magnitude that it increases risk of ovarian and breast cancer in women.

And there is no immediate intervention indicated for it, other than to be aware you have it and mention it to your doctors.

The results will certainly not diagnose the cause of your abdominal pain. If you are not satisfied with the diagnoses you have received, you need to consult a different doctor. (Taking all test results with you).

This doctor in Bangkok has been able to help many when other doctors could not identify the problem. Worth traveling to consult him
