Hi anyone know i know a Thai national got 12 years in prison or pay 500.000, is that normal that you can skip jailtime with pay money, The court sentence this and the person have to appear 3 times in court the next year. Sounds like a reporting you still in Thailand

Thailand makes prison worse than death!

 

 

Sounds as someone who needs 500.000 THB. Why report to the court and not the police?

Did you read the sentence (which is in Thai) or somebody told you so?

Rumours speculation and mostly BS are rife.Thailand is a land of inconsistencies. One thing does however often prove true, the right connection and an envelope can often works wonders in many scenarios, (apparently)

Not normal and most likely false/inaccurate/exaggerated information or not the full story.

Garbage.  And any prisoners in any Thai jail can have food sent in, or ordered the previous day and provided through the prison, even the peasants.

Usually it's a prison sentence + monetary fine.

 

My ex got life + 2,000,000 baht fine, reduced to 25 years and 1,000,000 baht fine for confessing.

Kings pardons reduce time, being a model prisoner reduce time, crowded prisons reduce time.

If you don't have the money or can't raise it, its is worked off at the rate of 200 baht per day in extra time in the monkey house.

 

She served 9 years and was released into family supervision (not me)

Don't know how the money was paid off and I don't really care.

Maybe the person was sentenced to pay 500k, but if unable or unwilling to pay they have to go to prison instead?

500K fine and a suspended jailtime aside of having to show up at court is normal practice.

Must have done ok  with online Fraud and stashed it if he still can afford this .
