Thin Set Tile Adhesive

Featured Replies

Yesterday 3 tiles popped up on my swimming pool.

Extreme heat for the last 2 weeks and maybe gap between the tiles too small, but these 3 tiles are the only ones that have pooped and all the others have the same gap between them.

I was thinking I would clean them up and re-glue them into place.

I would like a recommendation on thin set adhesive to use.

Something like just a smear of adhesive on the tile and concrete base.

The underlayment is fine... the thin set used originally was more than likely the cheapest possible and not really for wet installations... just find a tube of acrylic adhesive and you will be good to go... do not clean up surfaces... just dust and glue

I had a similar problem with some balcony tiles a few years ago.

I ground down the edges a bit to make sure the expansion problem was no more and used "No Nails" construction adhesive.

Never had any problems since.

Village builders are notorious for not knowing much about laying tiles with the correct spacing.

Homepro sells tile adhesive and filler ready mixed in small quantity tubs as I have just found out ????

two part plumbers epoxy will solve your problem and don't forgot to tighten up that other lose tile in the pic.

What underlayment? There is none.

The cement footing "underlayment" is proper and suitable for a pool surround.

wrong.

Why are people arguing about underlayings, whatever that is, when the OP is about glue to stick a tile.

Purchased the 'nails' and about to do it today. Also ordered the SS316 bolts etc from Abpron Bangkok link given. Nice people. One wonders why pool shops sell pool ladders with no SS316 bolts.

Thanks again.

Had to force the bloke laying my tiles to use 3mm spacers, and leave a 5mm gap against the wall to be siliconed.  He thought I was bonkers.

Try citing some supporting information... even your hero Bob Villa lays tiles directly over a properly poured concrete substrate... cement board is not required for outdoor Installation.
