Trevor
Even for a third-world country Thailand, with all its charms, takes the biscuit for gratuitous exhaust noise. Do the sip-lor manufacturers think they are being clever, or extracting more miles-per-gallon with their unbaffled exhaust pipes? Track racing cars certainly do, but then they are not in close proximity to the general populace who have to suffer such torture. F1 cars are also scientifically-tuned to minimise exhaust back-pressure. But Thai 10-wheeled trucks? From their slow progress it looks like the straight-through pipe is an exercise in futility. Perhaps a technical person here can clarify whether Thai sip-lors, buses and motorcycles really do benefit from their assault on the ears of pedestrians.
