Thunderstorms hit Thailand: Heavy rainfall sparks flash flood warnings

Featured Replies

The Thai Meteorological Department issued a warning for increased thunderstorms, affecting 37 provinces across the country, including Bangkok. Heavy rainfall is expected in several areas, potentially causing sudden flooding and flash floods, particularly in hilly regions and low-lying areas.

The warning is a result of the southwest monsoon, intensified over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, as well as the low-pressure system along the coast of Myanmar and the monsoon trough passing through northeastern Thailand and Laos. This is causing rough sea conditions with wave heights up to three metres in the upper Andaman Sea and over two metres in storm-affected areas.

The public living in affected areas is advised to be cautious and prepared for the dangers caused by heavy rainfall and the accumulation of rainwater. Boat operators in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are also urged to navigate with caution and avoid areas affected by thunderstorms.

Bring it on! This heat is killing me.

Yeah, here in northern BKK we could do with a bit of it, there's been some damp at night but the garden is still brown and rock-like ????

Again a lot of rain?? Here in my place not 1 drop since all the forecasts... Just heat and dry

Torrential rain most of the night in CM.

Was raining  for hours here in KKC, first time I've sat comfortably outdoors for quite a while, 26 degrees and fresh.

It's just stopped a few minutes ago, sun and humidity next no doubt

Here we ago again. Don't know about anyone else but basically the same warning for last week and where I am (just sw of BKK) got one storm lasted about an hour. Apart from that not a drop and 40+ everyday with high humiditiy. I guess if they keep up the warnings all the time sooner or later it will be correct. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

West of BKK had a couple of slight showers, nothing much.

Overcast but not a drop of badly needed rain here in Sattahip.

Heavy rain and thunder in San Sai for most of the night.

It's amazing the difference 20km can make to the weather.
