Residents of Ranong, Phang Nga, Chumphon warned of flash floods

The Meteorological Department Monday warned people in Ranong, Phang Nga and Chumphon to brace themselves for heavy downpours and possible flash floods.

The department said the influence of the southwest monsoon wind over the Andaman Sea and Thailand would unleash rains to many areas in the country, especially the three southern provinces.

About 70 per cent of areas in Bangkok could also be hit by rains, the department warned.

It said 40 per cent of areas in the North would see heavy downpours while rains could hit about 70 per cent of areas in the Central, 70 per ceint the South, 40 per cent in the Northeast, and 60 in the East.

Meteorological Department warns of torrential rain in central, eastern and southern regions

The Meteorological Department has reported today (Jul 9) that a strong southwest monsoon covers the Andaman Sea and Thailand, causing torrential rain over Central including Bangkok metropolis, eastern and southern Thailand as well as heavy rain in some places. People should beware of gust and flood during this period while strong wind wave is likely 2-3 meters in the Andaman Sea. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats should keep ashore in the next few days.

Bangkok metropolis and vicinity will likely see almost widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain with gust. The minimum temperature will be 25 degrees Celsius whie the maximum temperature will be 34 degrees Celsius. The speed of southwesterly winds will be around 15 to 30 kilometers per hour.

The Meteorological Department has reported today (Jul 10) that a strong southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand remains. Torrential rain and strong wind are likely in the South. People in the provinces of Chumphon, Ranong, Phang Nga and Phuket should beware of flooding conditions. All ships in the Andaman Sea should proceed with caution, and small boats are advised to keep ashore in this period.

Meanwhile, Bangkok metropolis and vicinity will likely experience scattered thundershowers. The minimum temperature will be 25 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature 35 degrees Celsius. The speed of southwesterly winds will be around 15 to 30 kilometers per hour.

The Meteorological Department has reported today (Jul 11) that a strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand. Torrential rain and strong wind are likely in the areas.

As a result of flooding condition due to the sequences of wet days in many places in Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket and Krabi, people in these provincies should beware of the severe weather and flash flooding in the following few days. High waves of approximately two to three meters remain in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats in the Andaman Sea are advised to keep ashore during this period.

Surat Thani warns people of potential disasters from heavy rain

Surat Thani Governor Niwat Sawatkaew warns people in 149 risky areas in this southern province of possible mudslide and forest flood.

Mr. Niwat says relevant units have prepared to deal with potential natural disasters in different locations of Surat Thani, especially in tourist destinations such as Samui Island, Pa Ngan Island, Tao Island and Khao Sok National Park. He warns fishermen and marine transport operators to be more careful when sailing and small boats are advised to stay onshore during this period due to high waves.

The Governor of Surat Thani asks people to follow the weather reports closely as heavy rain has continued to pour for two consecutive days already, and the province is expected to see heavy rain in the next few days.
