Help on "Retirement Visa"
Is that a Fixed term account or a Savings account. A FTD account will only have two entries to update, any added interest and the balance. Savings account could have multiple deposit and withdrawal transactions. I'm also with BBL and can assure you if you haven't updated the passbook for a period of time and only have availability of 3/4 lines for printing on that page entered into the ATM, it will consolidate those transactions bringing the balance up to date. If you manually flip the page and re-enter in the ATM, it will spit the book out, as it's already up-to-date. -

Thai PM Faces Legal Scrutiny Over Delayed Divestment of Golf Club Shares
No, of course nobody should be let off the hook. But this man is a serial petitioner. That Thanatorn was banned, is also something that shouldn´t have been happening. To continue with this nit picking witch hunt is very silly, though. What they need is to look on the big picture. I am pretty sure they can find something more relevant to focus on that can be used to remove unwanted persons. What is needed is to let a couple of days or a week late be, and let the ones in charge now, do their thing, see the result and let the voters choice remain to form government next time, without any other parties trying to derail the democratic order. -

How do you pay?
I pay 90 percent in cash. For big items, I'll use a card but it hardly seems worth it for small purchases and I'm not interested in fiddling with my mobile phone and QR codes at the register. -

Help on "Retirement Visa"
Which bank have you had that experience at? I have accounts at Bangkok Bank, Krungsri, SCB, Kasikorn Bank and Krung Thai and none of them work like you describe. Of course, if you don't update regularly transactions will be consolidated (although Krungsri doesn't seem to do that). -

Strong baht, flooding impact Thailand’s tourism market deficit with Japan
In terms of Quality of the services, Thailand can never match Japan. Being one of the world's safest nations. Extremely low rate of murders/robberies. No terrorists' bombing cases(after 1970s). Nationwide safe, fast, and reliable public transportation system. No Rip-off Taxis. Super-clean, tasty, and often very affordable food menus... Dark side is, Heaven to the Customers, Hell to the Workers. They are constantly demanded to exercise Perfection at work for a lot lower pay than most of the 1st World: Their minimum wage is well below $10/hour. And average 30000/year suicide cases among their declining population. -

5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx
I have heard that If you stay in Thailand for more than 180 days in a year, it seems that they are planning to change the law to impose taxes on the amount of money earned outside of Thailand, even if you do not send it to Thailand. If I register my employment or business with DTV, won’t it be problem later? -

School Bus Fire Claims Multiple Lives and Injures Young Students in Rangsit
Well now we know that multiple problems caused this, this is what Thai culture has produced when everyone looks the other way when it comes to safety. I blame the Thai people for this, the parents, the teachers, the government, the RTP.....all of them! Watching the false tears from the government employees and the PM herself just makes me want to vomit, they are all complicit in this! https://thethaiger.com/news/national/bus-ted-driver-in-bus-blaze-tragedy-jailed-previous-accidents-shared -

How do you pay?
agree, but over the past year I have noticed in Robinson's Mall Latkrabang that some stores/restaurants say "no cash" ( in Thai but I understand it) I only use cash, while my wife and daughter seldom do! Anyway I ask if I can pay in cash only - 90% say yes others say they can't accept cash. If not, then I move on to someplace else - wife just smiles. I note from the PI forum that cash is king there. They recommend for visitors to immediately upon arrival at airport change money into local pesos as most shops except for big malls don't accept foreign charge cards. -

Thailand’s Bold Move: Decriminalising Sex Work Sparks National Debate
Indeed this "only some aspects" is what enables some countries to proudly claim "prostitution is legal" while in fact it isn't. In Belgium and Portugal prostitution has officially been legal for decades but local authorities are free to withhold permits for prostitution venues as well as for privately operating escorts, and local authorities do so more often than not. In France or Sweden women are free to prostitute but men are not allowed to pay for a prostitute: what kind of fool does one need to be to consider this as meaning prostitution is legal? And so on and so forth. Meanwhile in some countries like Uganda, Madagascar, Kenya ... prostitution has always been illegal but it is all over the place. P.S. My initial point was that "1st World" countries should not (or no longer) be hailed as libertarian countries in matters of prostitution (nor of hetero sex for that matter). -

How do you pay?
Just try using a credit/debit card in any shop in Thailand. "No like, No want" is the usual response, followed by over-charging to cover the car company's fee. Thailand is a "cash only" economy. It suits the numerous criminals who live here, and supports tax evasion.
