Hello JRTx -- If you are up in PRC for your health, I hope all is going well. I remember the KFC off the SW corner of Tienanmen Square around 1990 -- there were lines to get in. It's time now for breakfast. Only way to get huevos rancheros would be to make them myself. BTW my best friend in TX can trace his family back to the Battle of San Jacinto.

Hi Jazzbo........KFC and McD and Pizza Hut are all over China......now SUBWAY and think one Taco Bell are here........Taco Bell is not near me and neither is SUBWAY.

I think you are joking about health and assume China is not healthy and Thailand is..........I am living in a place that is on the ocean....mountains are surrounding me........more trees than I can count.......the air is very fresh.......the food "looks" clean in the markets.

I have never been sick here. It is a place many Chinese go to retire precisely because it is so good for their health.

I love huevos rancheros and have only had it (something similar to the original) at the Blue Parrot in Pattaya.........unfortunately I always get sick after eating there, so stopped. Thais just can't resist putting their fingers up their collective noses when making your food (yes, its a problem in China too).

Battle of San Jacinto..........ahhhhhh.....the good ole days....... :D

I am in China now.....went to KFC yesterday (actually tastes like the KFC back home....like pressure cooked, greasy chicken).....saw many Chinese eating burritos made with fried chicken, plum sauce and a celery stick down the middle. They are testing the Chinese market now.

The 80-90% of visitors to the Emporium branch of Sunrise, I suspect, is exaggerated a bit and also the Thais that eat there have probably visited or lived in other countries and are thus exposed to more international food. I was classified as Thai by them and I'm not Thai

I am still not convinced the market is big enough to make Mexican a popular choice, though for my own sake I would certainly like to see more Mexican, American, and other cuisines enter and stay in the market.

Will agree with the Tex-Mex - something like Chili's could work well, especially where fajitas are involved.

Thanks for remembering the post about my health.......the problem (vertigo) started in Thailand after spending a few days in Bangkok.......I thought it would just go away........the Chinese doctors were the ones that figured out a solution. I was terrified......went through all of the worst case scenarios......but fine now.

It is good that you have traveled around China to get a feel for it......there is the China myth that we all have been told to believe and the China reality. Same thing with Cambodia........and off topic, but 99% of the people on TF seem to think Cambodia is rotten and Thailand is wonderful, especially its economy, but look at these figures (from 2006) and ask yourself which country is doing better (Cambodia is #7 and since Thailand is so far down....let me help you...it is ranked 102:
