A professor from Kasetsart University in Thailand provided a media update on the investigation into an escalator accident that resulted in a woman losing half of her leg at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok.

A KASETSART University academic said the accident at Don Mueang Airport whereby a female passenger’s left leg was severed till the knee after it was swallowed by a moving walkway was caused by loose bolts holding down a metal plate at the end of the conveyor belt, Naewna and Matichon newspapers said Friday (July 7).

Thai police arrested a former jailbird after he attacked a 66 year old neighbour with a knife in the Mea Pong district in the northern province of Chiang Mai. The habitual criminal’s younger sister expressed pride in her brother before he left for jail.

IMMEDIATELY transferred today (July 7) were the chief and deputy chief of Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district after raids of two karaoke lounges on the Thai-Myanmar border found girls younger than 18 years of age serving customers with this being illegal sex trafficking of minors, MNG Online said.

Apart from some good news delivered this week by Mr Wichanun Niwatjinda (right) of the Ministry of Commerce in Bangkok on inflation in Thailand, which is on track to be the lowest in the ASEAN bloc, there are clear warning signals from the economy. Capital continues to flow out of the country. 


A vote that delivers a new government led by Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat would lift investor sentiment immediately next Thursday but all the political signs suggest this may not be the case.

He faced charges connected with the brutal killing of his granddaughter, the use of illegal narcotics and the concealment of her body.


The Ministry of Justice has offered to expedite assistance to the distraught family of the young girl who met a brutal end at the hands of a family loved one.
