Overpass collapses in Lat Krabang, injuring many

A section of an overpass under construction collapsed on Monday evening in Lat Krabang district.

 

Initial reports say one killed and many others injured, according to Thai PBS television station. The collapse occurred at about 6pm in front of Lotus Lat Krabang on Luang Phaeng Road.

 

The emergency services rushed to the area, including ambulances from the Erawan Medical Centre.

Apparently not.

At 6:11 p.m., the bridge over the intersection collapsed in front of Lotus Lat Krabang, Ladkrabang Fire and Rescue Station officials arrived at the initial scene, with 3 serious injuries, 4 minor.

Under Construction Lat Krabang Overpass Bridge in Bangkok Collapses, Multiple Fatalities and Injuries Reported

Bangkok- An under construction overpass bridge located at the On Nut-Lat Krabang Road in Bangkok has collapsed near dusk yesterday evening, July 10th, 2023, killing at least two people and injuring eight more.

 

Mr. Wisanu Subsompol, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, told the associated Thai press that the under construction bridge appeared to have flipped over while significant traffic was in the area under the bridge construction.

 

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, or BMA, officials confirmed at least two deaths and right injuries but cautioned that this was not final as ongoing searches for people possibly trapped under the rubble were ongoing.

Wasn't there another bridge incident in the past month? Best stay well away from bridges. Bad things come in threes.

I'm sticking to my 4 foot rule... that's as high as I go in Thailand... even if it's certified to be engineered to the highest standards... I say ... RAISE THE STANDARDS

No,that only comes after walking under a ladder while a black cat crosses your path and you drop the mirror you were carrying. Make sure you carry a sachet of salt to throw over your shoulder,just in case. Can’t be too careful … ????

hope they figure out concrete bridge construction before they open for traffic, but in the land of no accountability, we might just have to get used to more collapsing roads in the future headlines

On my kids’ school bus route and my wife visited a nearby clinic just a few hours before. We  are counting our lucky stars regarding the timing and condolences to the families of the dead and injured. 
 

Hoping for a thorough enquiry to prevent repitition but not holding my breath. School closed at least today.
