Children's ID cards when doing an annual renewal

I have 3 teenage children. Today I went to Buriram IO to renew my annual Marriage extension. My wife and I were asked to show our children's ID cards. In over 8 years I've/we've never been asked to show our children's ID cards. Thai children are only issued with an ID card from the age of 7. They become adults age 20 and then a married farang doesn't have to declare their children annually any more.

So any farang with legitimate children be warned when now doing your annual extension. Also we were told that the show of money for a Marriage Extension needs to be in the bank 3 months prior to expiry date. I argued the toss and they didn't persist. A bad day at the IO today.

if immigration mess me about even slightly this year then im walking straight out of the building. 

 

I have enough money that I can pretty much go and live anywhere I like now and be on multi entry visas.

 

Immigration can like it or lump it. they need me more than I need them!

Had something similar happen to me a few years ago except in my case they initially were insisting that we bring the children to the office. The "children" at that time were both over 21 years of age and both were working.

 

After some discussion they decided that they would settle for copies of their identification cards plus a photo of my wife and myself standing next to one of them.

 

I had to do a 160km round trip to get the photo done and then they tried to refuse me on the grounds that I had supplied the same two photos. I showed them that our hands were in different positions in the photos at which point they gave in and processed my application.

 

Interesting that you say that once they become adults they don't have to be declared.

It was Ubon Joe that informed me that once the children reached 20 years old they are no longer required to be declared as ones children. I was moaning at the time that I was obtaining a marriage extension and didn't see why I had to declare my children every year. And I still don't. My children are Thais and have Thai passports. They also have UK passports.

But in saying all this a German woman married to a Thai, living near me, doesn't have to show 400,000 Baht every year. She shows no financial holdings and neither does her Thai husband. Which is totally hypocrisy. And she has a son and she doesn't have to declare him to immigration as far as I'm told.

One last bitch. A farang doing a Retirement extension doesn't have to declare his children. A total b***Ix
