As far as I know, the same type of off-the-shelf prepaid Internet packages as one finds throughout Thailand are not available in Malaysia.

If you travel to Malaysia frequently, you could sign up for a prepaid account with one of the Malaysian ISP's. I have had a prepaid account with Jaring for the past four years and have been quite satisfied with their service.

Also if you do a lot of travel wireless (though I thought centrino was a chip designation not a wireless spec) such as 802.11 is becoming very common in good hotels.

If you are still around Phuket I have spare wireless 802.11 cards I could lend you if it would help.. PC card variant for laptop.

Personally I say relax a little use the net cafes and enjoy the trip rather than hole up in the hotel room.
