Could Thailand break world record time for forming new govt?

Three months have passed since the May 14 general election, and Thailand’s next government is still nowhere in sight.

Waiting much longer could very well earn Thailand a place among countries that have suffered the biggest delays in forming governments after elections.

However, the kingdom is unlikely to match world record-holder Belgium, which waited almost two years (652 days) between 2019 and 2020 for a new government to be formed. Now though, Thailand is edging closer to Germany, which had been without a new government for about four months after a general election in September 2017.

Thailand’s current record

Thailand’s current record is 108 days, seen after the previous general election in March 2019. The Palang Pracharath Party, which had then-junta leader General Prayut Chan-o-cha as its sole prime ministerial candidate, managed to form a new government after securing majority support for Prayut in a parliamentary vote.

Gen. Prayut did it in a day in 2014.

POTUS Trump tried zero days for a second term.

Yes but you will still end up with something you never voted for or it will be removed by the point of a gun that's the choice ????

I hope that it will take at lest till may next year... Just to show that a group of 250 senators are not wanted to interfere in the election as they do now. MFP coalition of 8 parties have to stay and just do nothing and wait till May. See what will happen... The country did not improve in the last 10 years, so 10 months more won't do such a harm or maybe only the businesses of the senators...

Those days of 21 months without government in Belgium a friend a Burmese friend wrote to me : " no government ? Lucky guys !"

How is this the record? A few years back, Northern Ireland had to wait three years for a government to be formed.

Northern Ireland has been without a government for more than 40% of the time since devolution.

Ask Belgium.

Why bring Trump into it? What happened in America makes the Thai election look squeaky clean. If your going to talk about the farcical storming of the white House without watching all of the un edited tapes, with the now known fbi/cia operatives agitating the crowd then the states that cheated the count and now been found as so. So please keep your biased hatred to yourself. Note: I never liked Trump but after everything he said turned out true you would need to be a moron to believe anything they say against him now. A man who loves his country something Thailand desperately needs as does my own country.
