Minimum Salary Requirement

Recommended Posts

I have read the main post and still don't underrstand. Under the new regulations can a teacher get paid less than 50,000 and still get a one year extension or do they have to resort to a one year multiple entry visa.

What is this official letter of confirmation from a relevant government agency, how do you get one and what does it allow you to do exactly.

Kenkannif,

Care to elaborate? "Shouldn't", "Most"??

Must admit I always thought it didn't apply to the teachers but now I aint so sure...

Do you have some concrete info on how the powers-that-be will deal with applications from teachers e.g. someone on an hourly rate that will get them ~45K a month?

Cheers,

Just like it says it shouldn't/won't apply to most teachers, although if you work direct at business (consultant) it might effect you? Personally I don't think it will apply to anyone that has a teachers licence and WP, but there are rumblings that it may effect some schools (not certified, not a lot of money ec).

I don't think you can get a contract/WP purely on an hourly rate they look at your monthly earnings (I'm guessing though).

What also may happen is you pay more tax (to the required amount), but earn the same! We shall see what we shall see!

:o One branch of the company Overseas Education, based in the basement of Rasa Tower, Phaholyothin Road has a school registered with the MOE. The fact they have no classrooms or students seems irrelevant. The school is used to launder other company business transactions. However they have obtained WPs for foreigners not connected with their business at 12000 Bt per month, thus alleviating any problems of having to pay tax. So, it can be done.

Somewhere it is written.. if you are employed by a government school/organization, then you don't have to worry.. they provide the work permit, and pay you what every.. You are considered an employee of the organization, not a private businessman.. :o

(As posted on ajarn.com)

Hi All,

Thought I should post my feedback on the Laos visa run for anyone thats interested:

No probs with the crossing at NongKhai - Laos visa was $31 as it was a weekend...

I turned up at the embassy in Vientiane on Monday morning about 1030 and pretty much handed over my passport, CV and letter from the school to the first guy I saw hawking around outside with a Visa applcn form on a clipboard. We filled it in, he took copies and the originals of my docs, gave me a phone number and told me he'd hand deliver the passport including brand spanking Non-Imm B visa back to my hotel the next day at 1330.

He was good to his word, and I paid him 1000 for the service - well worth it I'd say... absolutely hassle-free. There was no mention whatsoever of min wage requirements

If anyone wants his number for a relaxing 2-day break with visa thrown in, PM me....

Cheers,
