Great. Will they reduce the private cars in metros like Bangkok to lower the pollution ? Doubit it. Will they strongly enforce open air garbage dumps and the burning of dangerous waste in open fields all over ? Doubt. it.

I wonder how many more depts will be established for some of the new snouts coming to the trough.

Hopefully they also open the department for brains soon.

So, will they be ensuring that climate-change happens in Thailand?

Very probably, given Mae Moh power station in Lampang is one of the dirtiest emitters on the planet, and is currently undergoing expansion.

So they start to do something at last?? But they don't what first make a committee... How about black smoke cars, polluting industry, promotion of electric motorcycles and cars, better garbage handling, education not to use a motorcycle for a few hundred meters further shop. etc etc.. Probably a new minister to fill his pockets as there are so many parties and all want to have a minister post

Maybe it should have been something like "Ministry for Enviornmental Protection and Sustainable Development"???

Thailand is a pathetically corrupt country and this new agency will be another avenue for corruption.

Sounds like someone realized how much money could be skimmed off the budget of a department that doesn't have to deal with quantfiable sucess.

And just the kickbacks on  buying chinese solar panels alone will satisfy a large number of snouts

Looking forward to some of the London style measures being applied to Bangkok!

No. That's down to the number of coal - burning power stations.

The order of fossil fuel ( cleanest to dirtiest ) is methane - natural gas - oil - black coal - brown coal - lignite.

Mae Moh is fuelled by lignite.

First there will be regular meetings with free lunches; Committee members can invite all their pals; preferably those owning lucrative businesses.  Many photos will be taken of police stopping a black-smoking vehicle driven by a farang.  Acres of burning fields will be ignored; temples will be granted special dispensations to continue burning their refuse.  Double glazing & solar panels will be made available at 'special' prices through Committee members.

Great to see we are all positive about this. :)

I think their aiming to be the "HUB" of climate change in SEA

Awarding 'carbon credits' to the corporate polluters, while taxing every day citizens using the Malthusian "people pollute" scam..

Don't hold your breath about slash n burn farming, or actual air pollution though.
