Former PM Hun Sen: Cambodian-Thai new prime ministers to further strengthen cooperation

Featured Replies

The new Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Thailand will work together to boost the cooperation between the two neighbouring countries. The comments were made by Hun Sen, President of Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, on his social media networks yesterday evening. “Today is a beautiful day as two neighbouring monarchies (Cambodia and Thailand) receive a new Prime Minister on the same day,” he wrote.

“Although I will step down as Prime Minister of Cambodia, effective from Tursday, I would like to send a congratulatory message to His Excellency Srettha Thavisin, who has been elected by the National Assembly as the new Prime Minister of Thailand,” he added.

“I hope the two new Prime Ministers will work together to further boost cooperation between the two countries,” Hun Sen concluded. Srettha Thavisin, 60, from Pheu Thai Party was elected new Prime Minister of Thailand after receiving parliamentary support in a vote on Tuesday. He won 482 votes, far from the 376 votes needed for victory, putting an end to three months of political deadlock. AKP-C.Nika
