September 4, 20232 yr Popular Post A PROMINENT ACADEMIC said Monday (Sep.4) he wondered if Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin could practically be independent of de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra. Thammasat University law lecturer Prinya Thaewanarumitkul commented that nobody could be completely positive that Srettha could be practically free of Thaksin’s alleged influence which has allegedly prevailed over all members of the Pheu Thai rank and file. Thaksin’s sister/deposed prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra had allegedly pushed for the naming of the real estate tycoon as a Pheu Thai candidate for prime minister who was given a decisive yea vote from senators last month. Nevertheless, the de facto Pheu Thai boss who had allegedly taken part in power play allocating cabinet portfolios among coalition partners literally from his hospital bed might probably try to keep the newly-named prime minister under control, according to the Thammasat law lecturer. September 4, 20232 yr Popular Post Just now, still kicking said: If MFP were in power he would not have come back That was sorted well in advance... Thaksin postponed his return until matters were more secure.
September 4, 20232 yr Lol. Yeah right! It's pretty obvious he is with all the breaks Mr. T is getting, hahahahaha
September 4, 20232 yr Popular Post Some how, in Typical Thai politics, i don't think Srettha would have been elected without Thaksin's in put, the rest is history.
September 4, 20232 yr Popular Post Ha ha, why do you think he is also in charge of the economy. Thaksin is already PM from his hospital bed because he chose the cabinet and directly influences Srettha who is nothing but a thinly veiled cover for him. And before the end of the year Thaksin will be out of hospital/prison and running the country from his mansions or private plane.
September 4, 20232 yr I wonder how many voters who voted for PT voted for Srettha, PT politics as published, and how many voted for PT because for them PT = Thaksin = their hero. I guess most voted for Thaksin. And that should be reason enough for any PT member to follow the orders of the boss. If they want to be independent from Thaksin, then they can only be independent in another party - and there they have likely another boss.
September 5, 20232 yr This is apparently an alleged piece of journalism, probably... Quote: which has allegedly prevailed, had allegedly pushed, who had allegedly taken part, might probably try, had allegedly reached, could probably be challenged, could probably become, might probably be released, had allegedly bowed to, had apparently opted

September 5, 20232 yr Potentially the situation sets up an interesting power tussle down the track between S & T once T's on home leave ... At the moment though S is wearing the pants and making the most of it. If he's clever enough, he can take over the reins permanently by asserting his power as PM while privately keeping T happy by frequent private consultations with him (Student/Master relationship). T is never going to have an official role ever again.

He will be ridden hard, and will take the whip. He has absolutely no power whatsoever. He'll be but a skid-mark in Thai history.

September 5, 20232 yr Young Shinawatra is not Prime Minister. ( Millions predicted she would be in first 5 months of 2023 ) Young Shinawatra is not a Cabinet Minister of the new Government. Already answered such self-indulged and dump question.
September 5, 20232 yr Considering it was a toss up between a Shinawatra and Srettha for their candidate for PM - I would say it's a safe bet that the influence is there.

September 5, 20232 yr People forget that Mr T. Was the most successful Thai PM with 14% gdp and more. Table positions in education especially English were far higher under his watch as was corruption was far lower. I never liked him but the Thai people did and he was the best person for the job. Being an ex soldier I hold any soldier who takes over their elected government with disdain.

A very sad state of affairs, the large vote from the good citizens of the country for Pita totally ignored / totally disrespected.

Really no toss up between Sretha and Paetongtarn for PM candidacy. The party formally nominated Sretha as candidate number 1 and given him the support up till the voting stage. Paetongtarn had stated categorically that she backs Srethta. Thaksin spoke on his birthday that he preferred his daughter to work for the party while Sretha work at the Government House. She hold no Government House's position. So much for speculation.
