Popular Post webfact Posted September 6, 2023 Popular Post Share Posted September 6, 2023 Senior officer Phrathawi Somwang, head of the Chokchai Police Station, inspected a road collapse on Lat Phrao Road near exit soi Lat Phrao 67/2 in the Wang Thonglang district of Bangkok. He was accompanied by representatives from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and the municipal engineering office, reported Siam Rath. The inspection revealed a sinkhole approximately 2 meters deep and spanning a width and length of roughly 2 meters each on the far-left lane of Lat Phrao Road's outbound side. Picture: Siam Rath Authorities promptly closed the affected area to traffic, leaving only the far-right lane open. A small backhoe was brought in to remove the broken road surface before filling the void with soil and sand to expedite the reopening of the road. The affected area was under construction for a tunnel housing electrical cables, approximately 3 meters deep and 40-50 meters long. The tunnel's filling is attributed to eroded soil, causing a dip of approximately one foot on the roadway.
