September 11, 20232 yr Thailand’s Public Health Minister Cholnan Srikaew said today (Monday) that he intends to set up a National Health Security Board and push for medicinal cannabis, among other public health policies pledged during the general election campaign. He explained that the National Health Security Board, to be chaired by the prime minister, will not be a duplication of existing health security organisations, but will represent all ministries related to health to increase efficiency. He assured that cannabis will not be reclassified as a narcotic under Category 5 of the country’s controlled drug list, noting that cannabis with a THC content of more than 0.2% by weight is already regarded as a controlled narcotic.
