Chesterpot 12
Quick guestion guys - when applying for an extension of stay based on marriage, is there a time limit or can it be done anytime before your visa expires? Also on a side note, can this extension be applied for at Central Festival Chiang Mai or would one need to go to the aiport location? TIA! Popular Post BritTim 14738
You can apply for an extension of your permission to stay based on marriage up to 30 days before expiry of your current permission to stay (45 days at some offices). Although not recommended, it is allowed to apply right up until the last day of your permission to stay. 1

CMBob 1616
Here in Chiangmai you can apply for a new extension 45 days prior to your extension expiration date. I don't know if the Central Festival office can do any annual extensions (other than, maybe, short extensions).
CM Dad 797
No, you cannot do extensions based on marriage at the Central Festival Immigration Office in Chiang Mai. 1

If by "visa" you mean a real genuine McCoy multi-entry one of the non-immigrant O variety like those issued by the Savannakhet Consulate, why not use it one more time to gain a further 90-day permission to stay through a border bounce?🙄
khunjake 107
If I we’re applying for an extension, i would definitely NOT leave it to the last day. Your just leaving the door open for the IO to ram you for $$$ seeing that you would have to leave the next day provided they decide not to give you a 7-day extension unless you pay up. I would say apply 1 week before your current stay expires to give you some elbow room.
