BALAKLAVA (NNT) - The Public Relations Department (PRD) of Thailand on Tuesday, October 3rd, participated in the 48th Annual Gathering and the 21st Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) General Conference & Associated Meetings 2023 in the city of Balaklava, Mauritius.

According to Ms. Sudruthai Lertkasem, PRD Deputy Director-General and head of the Thai delegation, the meeting focused on modernizing media activities, aligning them with the needs of member countries, and supporting the AIBD’s global sustainability effort.

One of the meeting’s significant outcomes was India’s election as the AIBD General Conference president, with Cambodia as vice-president. The Public Relations Department of Thailand was chosen to lead the AIBD Executive Board (EXBO) for a tenure of two years.

The AIBD, a notable international organization under the United Nations’ oversight, has a diverse membership. With 41 organizations from 26 countries as full members and another 66 organizations as associate members, the institute plays a pivotal role in the advancement of radio, television, and the broader media industry. AIBD emphasizes delivering accurate, timely, and accessible information to the public across various channels.

PRD Deputy Director-General Sudruthai stressed the importance of AIBD as a means to set comprehensive communication strategies to address global changes as well as adapt to the evolving media and digital technologies, all of which coincide with the policies of the Thai Prime Minister’s Office and the recent agreements that came out of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Vietnam.
