Hi everyone! I am thinking of moving to Chiang Mai for a few years with my family (wife and two children). We are all UK nationals except my wife who is an EU national. I will be enrolling my children to a british international school there, im already speaking to several of them about possible enrollment primary and secondary school.

My question is, what is the process with the visas? I understand that my children can get student visas, and that me and my wife can get guardian visas based on the childs student visa. Do i need to sort out the visas BEFORE i come to thailand? Is this possible, since to enroll at the school im assuming I will already need to show proof of residence/lease agreement? Do i first go alone, find somewhere to rent, enroll the children at the school and then get my wife to apply from our home country at a thai consulate before they get here? I am a little confused because for them to enter before getting the student/guardian visas, it would mean I would need to book return tickets for all of them to enter as a tourist and then to switch to student/guardian visas once they are here which sounds like a lot of extra hastle and a lot of extra expenses. What is the step by step process? If anyone who has moved there with family recently has gone through the process any advice would be GREATLY appreciated as we wish to move there in the next few months if possiblel. Thank you in advance for anyone taking their time to reply and help me out.

Sincerely

Pan
