Popular Post mikey88
Hello. I had the flu vax in Australia in May (prior to their winter season)……and now it’s flu season in CNX. Is the vaccine they used in Australia earlier this year relevant or the same as the one being used in Chiang Mai now for the CNX season…? I believe so….but I’m a tad confused…. Appreciate the info if you have it… Thanks.

SamSanuk
May I recommend a call into Medi Clinic? I received my flu shot a few weeks ago and they are very knowledgeable. Good chance they will know your answer. https://www.cmmediclinic.com
Popular Post brommers
There are two types of vaccine, the southern hemisphere type was available here from early this year and covered you for our rainy season when this strain is prevalent. Currently the northern hemisphere vaccine version is available and provides cover for the Thai winter flu season. Flu vaccines provide about 6 months of protection and Thailand experiences both types thanks to having a location near the equator and to large scale international travel. During Covid the incidence of flu declined noticeably due to greatly reduced socialising and other protection methods but it is now increasing as is Covid in some countries like the UK. CM Mediclinic has the northern strain vaccine available now and I was vaccinated there 3 days ago. 2

Any number 1-6 has a probability of 16.7% to occur with one die. That is not the same as a SWAG. Increase the of number of dice tossed in a throw (like the expectation of different flu strains) and your odds of prediction increase for flu immunity. There are nine flu vaccines in general available this flu season (no idea specifically for Thailand) that are 40-60% effective.

swm59nj
To the OP. It’s is to my understanding from what a doctor told me once. The flu vaccines are created for the regions they are administered in. I suggest you contact the provider that administered your vaccine to be sure if it covers the specific region you are inquiring about. This way you can be sure you are adequately protected. Sheryl
https://www.who.int/teams/global-influenza-programme/vaccines/vaccine-in-tropics-and-subtropics Thailand uses the Southern Hemisphere vaccine and the flu "season" starts in May. So yes, you are covered. Thread moved to health forum and a number of posts with misinformation/quakery removed along with trolling posts and flames. Good nutrition and adequate Vitwmin D levels certainly help resistance to disease but do not negate the need for flu vaccination in the elderly or otherwise at high risk. 1

my friend I
According to an Australian friend there were four flu vaccination s available in Australia. He had one for over 65s called Fluad Quad. Do you know which one you had ? He said his vaccination was good, no pain, no flu
PPMMUU
Thailand is situated in a tropical region, lying neither in the exact northern nor southern hemisphere. Both northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere flu vaccines are available in Thailand. In my practice, I would recommend getting the vaccine around the same time every year. So yes, your May vaccine will be sufficient.
