webfact Posted October 20, 2023 Share Posted October 20, 2023 At approximately 1:00 PM on October 19th, a 36-year-old man identified as Boon Aek was swiftly apprehended by police, a mere two hours after committing armed robbery. Wielding a knife, he had threatened two employees of a supermarket located in Sai Mai, Bangkok, and escaped with THB 3,000 (approximately USD 90), reported Siam Rath. Picture: Siam Rath The incident occurred around 12:50 PM when the assailant, wearing a blue polo with yellow and red stripes, jeans, and black sandals, cornered the employees. Swift action followed the robbery as police, informed of the incident, promptly initiated an investigation. Surveillance footage proved instrumental in tracking Boon Aek to his hiding place. Picture: Siam Rath Boon Aek confessed to the crime, citing overwhelming debts from online gambling as the driving force behind his desperate act. The seized money was partly used to settle his gaming debts. Police charged him with armed robbery and are pursuing legal actions in accordance with the law. The supermarket is reevaluating its security measures to prevent future incidents. prakhonchai nick Posted October 21, 2023 Share Posted October 21, 2023 (edited) Anyone committing a criminal offence with threats using a gun or other deadly weapon (eg knife) deserves a death sentence.
