What To Do After 6 Months?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Pardon my confusion but as everyone knows, Thai visas aren't the easiest to figure out. Here's my situation:

I've been in the country for almost a full 6 months-- started with a 60-day tourist visa + 30-day extension + 3x30day stamps.... now, if I wanted to stay longer, can I go to Vientiane and pay for a new 60-day tourist visa even though I've used up my 90 days in a 6 month period?

Thanks!

Yes, you should be able to get a Tourist visa. The "90 days within 6 months" doesn't include days that you entered with a visa.

They may well ask you why you are staying so long as a tourist.

Why not get a proper visa to start with?

Why not get a proper visa to start with?

Could you suggest what you consider is a "proper visa" if you consider a tourist visa that the OP intends to get is not.

Thank you so much for responding, I'm very relieved. The reason I keep getting tourist visas instead of a non-imm visa is because of my indecisiveness.... was supposed to fly home after 6 months but about two weeks ago i decided that I'd like to stay for longer. My partner is here teaching English. Now, I hope to find a job and a way of getting a better, 'proper' visa before my next 60 days is up.

thanks again:)
