Energy Commission lambasted over electricity price increase

The Federation of Thai Industries has roundly criticized the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for behaving like an only agency responsible for setting national electricity prices every four months, based on the data and assumptions provided by oil companies, without any plan for structural reform to reduce power prices.

Indian national arrested in Ang Thong over illegal loans in Thai baht

An Indian national has been arrested for operating an illegal daily loan scheme in Ang Thong. The arrest followed complaints by residents to the local Justice Centre about the extortionate interest rates and violent threats from the loan shark.

S&P Global Ratings Maintains Thailand’s Sovereign Credit Rating at ‘BBB+’

Half of new HIV infections in Thailand among 15-24 year olds

The Department of Disease Control (DDC) in Thailand has revealed that nearly half of the annual 9,000-plus new HIV infections are individuals aged between 15 and 24 years old.

Most of Thailand will turn slightly cooler over the weekend

Temperatures in most of Thailand, except southern provinces, are forecast to drop by 1-3 degrees Celsius this Saturday, due to a moderate cold front from China, which is currently over Vietnam and northern Laos and which is predicted to cover north-eastern Thailand and the South China Sea today, reported the Meteorological Department today.
