The Ministry of Labour has agreed to talks with a committee which approved a new minimum daily wage for workers, after Prime Minister Thavisin said the newly approved increase of 2 to 16 baht was too low.


However the committee insisted its decision was final and the PM had no legal authority to interfere, and that its members may not show up if a further meeting is called.

 

An environmental agency said About 40% of the country was covered with harmful amounts of ultrafine dust yesterday. The worst areas were in the central north and north east of the country, Prachuap khiri khan was also affected with lower levels of air pollution. People in the worst hit areas were advised to stay indoors.

 

The Minister of transport announced a section of a new expressway between Nonthaburi and Kanchanaburi province will be opened free of charge to motorists over the New Year holiday. The 51 kilometer section should help reduce holiday traffic congestion .

From today the ticket office at the new Hua Hin railway station opens to the public for the first time, while trains will continue to run on the old line for the next few days. Full train services are due to resume at the new station on Friday,
