The department of special investigation has pressed charges against 12 people  and 10 legal entities for their involvement in pork smuggling, assets worth about 90 million baht were seized.

The DSI was also pursuing nine cases involving private logistics companies that allegedly imported over 60 tons of smuggled pork in around 2,300 shipping containers. 

 

Prime minister Thavisin’s government  plans to introduce debt relief measures for some 10.3 million people who are currently struggling financially, Debt suspension and lower interest rates are part of the plan aimed at tackling 16 trillion baht household debt, or 90% of GDP, which the government believes has been hindering economic growth. 

 

Prison authorities have denied that a new regulation, which allows inmates to be held at facilities outside prison, will benefit former prime minister Thaksin Shinawat.

The deputy permanent secretary for justice  said the regulation is intended to categorise prisoners and determine who should be detained outside prison, such as those who need rehabilitation and career training. 

 

Five members of a family, three of them children, have drowned while collecting sand from a river bed in Buri Ram’  the family were reported missing on Monday evening and rescuers found them later in about 5 meters of water.

Officers were trying to establish the cause of death.
 
A shooting that occurred at a football match between Cambodians at Pathum Thani caused panic among more than 200 Cambodians who were participating and watching the game. Two Cambodians in their 20s were charged with weapons offences.
