Arbeid
The Norwegian man who was initially suspected of murdering his partner in northern Thailand returned yesterday to Norway. The Norwegian left Thailand before the case was formally closed. According to the police in Chiang Mai, that doesn’t pose a problem. Police Colonel Puwanart Duangdee informed ScandAsia that the decision to drop the charges against the Norwegian was made several days ago, but there were a few technicalities to address. “The papers will formally be signed this week, but that is a formality. He has been cleared of any suspicion of involvement,” Duangdee said. The suspect was initially apprehended on October 3, accused of using a meat ax to fatally attack his boyfriend in a small town near Chiang Mai. After spending four days in custody, he was subsequently released on bail. Read ScandAsia’s previous coverage of the case: here!
BenStark
Why is this even clickbait news? The Norwegian was cleared of all suspicions 4 days after being arrested, so he is free to go wherever he want. Oh wait, the AN armchair sleuths investigators will be here in a minute to convict him and declare how much was in the "brown" envelope

Olav Seglem
This original story another example of how media draw immidiate conclusions, specially in non-thais. The original story was focused in a manner that he was obviously guilty.
Arbeid
He was actually kept in Thailand for another 2 months after he was released on bail as the police never finished the case. The police said he was not to go home. He was, and still is, a very sick man after his stroke, brainbleed and brain/ blood clot surgery. He did not get any better after the treatment he received one day after coming home from a 4 weeks hospital stay. We had to travel over to help him, and he had us siblings staying with him till he finally travelled home. We just had to get him out of there before his health deteriorated even more, as there was always a new excuse form the police why he could not get the paper he needed to get back home without being terrified he would end up in jail again. We were told so many times there was no case against him so we knew it would not be a problem to just leave, but he was very worried he would be stopped and be thrown back in jail. We thankfully managed to convince him it would be ok . He had been tortured enough living through this dreadful time despite doing absolutely nothing wrong but being very sick. There are still way too many papers out there with no updated info after they all accused him of murder, that is the reason we need to get the correct info out as much as possible. Thank you for reading.
