Postgraduate student falls to death escaping drunken caretaker’s pounding

A tragic incident unfolded when a postgraduate student fell from the sixth floor of a mansion, allegedly in an attempt to escape after the property’s caretaker, under the influence of alcohol or possibly drugs, relentlessly pounded on her door. The event has sparked outrage and calls for justice.

According to a Facebook post on the page Survive – สายไหมต้องรอด, in the late hours of December 13, at a mansion on Soi Ladprao 3, Chokchai 4, the caretaker, intoxicated at the time, unexpectedly started pounding on the door of the victim, who was living alone on the sixth floor. The young woman was pursuing her postgraduate studies at Kasetsart University.

The loud banging startled the woman, known to fear loud noises since childhood. Fearing a break-in, she attempted to escape from the back of the room. However, she tragically fell from the sixth floor and died, reported KhaoSod.

The caretaker later apologised, claiming he had knocked on the wrong door. The victim’s father is now seeking justice, fearing his daughter’s death will otherwise be in vain. He has appealed for assistance from the Survive – สายไหมต้องรอด page to help his family.

this insinuates that she was being physically pounded by the assailant. very misleading.

A bizarre event. Normally, you would just open the door and scold the idiot who was pounding on it. And this is a good reason why every home should have the equivalent of an aluminum baseball bat. He would have been the one who fled.

She thought she was going to be raped or worse. Wrong room excuse?! Right. Brakes failed ... misunderstading ...  wrong room .... Same same but different.

It is not normal behaviour for a single lady living on her own to open the door to pounding, and absurd to suggest she should open the door and attack the stranger with a bat. The normal behaviour would be to hide and try to call for help. Most men could easily take a bat off a woman.

Something like this happened to my wife at a hotel quite recently. My wife was alone in her hotel room when a drunk guest from another room at about 2 am tried to get in. He was trying for about 10 minutes. This scared the living daylights out of her. She called security, but even so, she was traumatized by this event and it took her a full day to get over it.

Not if you are a woman living alone, you wouldn't. Very unwise.

Calling the police and any nearby friends/neighbors (especially any that are male) would be normal.

I imagine she did call someone as how else would the circumstances/reason she fled  be known?

But I suppose if there was what seemed like a ready escape one might take it, rather depends on the logistics of that which, other than the fact it led to a fall, are not described here.

It has happened more than once with my wife. One time she heard an invader in the house while I was out. She heard footsteps in the house - and I'm pretty sure a neighbour was inside snooping around as he thought the house was empty. She called me and said that she locked herself in one of our bedrooms while I made my way back to the house. She was terrified.

These types of incidents can cause reactions of pure terror for some young ladies. This prohibits rational thinking and it is possible to understand that the poor victim lost balance trying to escape on the balcony as she was terrified. It is not safe to be climbing around balconies while shaking from terror.

There might be some female rambo types as Spidermike was suggesting that would open the door and club the intruder to death with a baseball bat.

Yet again, we read of a tragic incident where a young lass in fear, tragically loses her life in a fall and someone has posted a "Ha Ha" emoji.

There are some really callous posters on AN!

I am not sure that they are callous, more likely simply stupid.

Yes virtually every post got one he must be drunk or a nutter.

I'm a little confused, who is this man trying to get justice against? The idiot who was knocking on the door and creating a racket? I understand knocking on the door in an aggressive manner can be considered a problem and perhaps a crime, but was he responsible for the woman falling out of the window or falling off the balcony? This is a very bizarre case and a tragic accident. In my opinion it could have very easily been solved with a can of pepper spray.

Or call police or security

According to the article: "the woman, known to fear loud noises since childhood".

That might explain why she didn't call police or security. She panicked (possibly traumatized by childhood experiences) and instinctively tried to flee. And it was late in the day so probably already sleeping when the pounding and shouting started.
