Diesel Prices Fixed for Another 3 Months

BANGKOK, Dec 19 (TNA) – The Cabinet has decided to fix the diesel fuel prices at no more than 30 baht per liter for another 3 months and reduce electricity costs for a specific group of 17 million households for the same duration.

 

Diesel prices would be capped at 30 baht per liter for a period of 3 months. As for the cooking gas, it will be fixed at 423 baht per 15-kilogram cylinder, said the Energy Minister Pirapan Salirathavibhaga said after the Cabinet meeting that resolved to lower energy costs to assist the public.

That could cost the government a lot of money, with the problem in the Red Sea, Houthi rebels from Yemen  attacking  ships ,believed to be heading to Isarel , they are now use military grade weapon's and helicopters, no rubber dinghy's now , a lot of shipping companies are to go  the scenic route vie the Cape  and South Africa,  the Red sea route takes about 12% of the world shipping ,that is going to add 2-3 weeks on a journey ,plus a big cost in sending cargo, cost  ship insurance is going  up big time ,if they can get it for sailing up the Red sea. 

Been talk of fuel going up. for the past week, a case of watch this space, with the money they are spending at the moment can/could they  afford it.

Thought there would be a further price reduction as new years presence. Didn't the PM say that about a month ago?
