Thailand news - The 300 baht 'tourist arrival tax', that never actually started, is being scrapped. Beijing has lost patience with the Burmese Junta and is putting pressure on the Myanmar army and government to crackdown on the border online scam gangs and casinos. Meanwhile, nine Thais have ben reduced from a Cambodian border sham casino, 2023 tourist arrivals tally - where are they coming from?

Pattaya officials have found a new way tackle air pollution, on the ground. A call for a new crackdown on vaping and e-cigarettes in Thailand and a sad farewell to one of the better online news publishers for the region.

Tim Newton Today is a daily take on Thai and regional news and issues of interest to expats and foreign tourists.

U-turns. A Thai specialty.

The new tax-the-foreigners tax also preparing for skid marks, I shouldn't wonder.

To many requiring hospital treatments from accidents caused by Thailand's bad roads, drivers, uneven foot paths, dangling wires, etc. etc. would be the reason in my  eyes.

Burma has been a huge embarrassment to China, the government is corrupt beyond imagination, the generals are making billions of dollars with oil, timber, mining, human trafficking, online scams, drug running operations, huge casino dens right on the Chinese border, and who knows what else, all under the nose of China.

I wouldn't doubt it if China begins to make incursions into Burma to set these goombahs straight.

lol. Never saw that one coming. Perhaps the brainiacs that want to tax us all will also do an u-turn. 🙄

Lots of talk for nothing again.

Seems the 60 days visa exemption is dead too.
