Asbestos in floor tiles...still in use?

Recommended Posts

I know there has been only a 'voluntary' ban of asbestos in Thailand

That is, companies are free to use it in their products or not.

Anybody knows what's the current status re: floor tiles?

Probably it helps if you are more specific.

Is this about existing tiles, which were installed maybe many years ago?

Do you want to buy new tiles (in a shop)?

Do you want to (a new) buy property with tiles and you want to know more about them?

Like lead in paint don't expect the standards to be within 30 years of the western world.

Get someone in to do it is my motto. I don't think its a problem once they are stable and seated.

Can one buy fibre cement floor tiles. I believe here they are all ceramic.

They are ceramic alright but traditionally have contained (powdered?) asbestos

The practice is banned in the West now but not here.
