Medical Council Asked To Probe Thaksin’s Doctors

THE MEDICAL COUNCIL was today (Dec.25) petitioned to investigate allegations that certain doctors had violated a professional code of ethics to keep de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict Thaksin Shinawatra from jail.

Former Democrat MP Watchara Petthong filed the petition against doctors of Bangkok Remand Prison and Police Hospital with Itthaporn Khanacharoen, secretary-general of the Medical Council, alleging that those doctors had broken their professional ethics to keep Thaksin from being literally put behind bars at the prison by transferring him over to the hospital where he has been staying beyond a 120-day period earlier provided by law.

The de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict at large had allegedly feigned “illnesses” in the alleged connivance with the unidentified doctors at the prison and hospital, according to the former lawmaker.

Watchara called on the Medical Council to look into the suspected acts of those doctors who, he said, may have been tempted by the de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict at large into providing him such unethical help.

There’s a lot of probing going on. This investigation is going to have to relocate to Pattaya if any more probing is required, in which case a thorough job will be done and the truth will be, no doubt, revealed.
I look forward to the findings. Thaksin will be beside himself I’m sure. This is like one of those Carry-On movies. Carry on probing. Until there is no one left to probe.

This refers to some kind of political code of ethics.

Doctors generally adhere to a medical code of ethics such as:

  • prescribe only beneficial treatments according to their abilities and judgement
  • refrain from causing harm or hurt
  • live an exemplary personal and professional life

There are many variations of the above but I find none of them require adherence to any political ideology or loyalty that supercedes patient care.

It is also a bit hypocritical for a government elected through the support of a military junta appointed senate to preach codes of ethics.

A ray of hope ... but , only a petition , not an investigation yet ...

Won't change the course of Thaksin's liberation to ' house arrest ' .

May be some money will ' talk ' again ...

Yawn.......

I read the headline and had a mental image of someone snapping on the latex to probe the doctors where the sun doesn't shine.

How much longer can this farce go on?

Nothing will come of any petition or even an investigation, Thaksin is far too rich and far too well connected!

The farce continues. I hope the Thai voters will remember the lies and deceit following Thaksin's escape from justice. Don't forget Sister Yingluck will occupy the VIP room when Thaksin vacates

There are those who suspect that he already is a free man. TIT!

I seems doctors are never wrong, they only maybe have a different opinion.

So, what will happen with a doctor with a different opinion that that patient with the flu needs VIP treatment? Nothing!

So whatever...is just a Mickey Mouse game in a Mickey Mouse country

Rearrange those deck chairs . . .

These children are desperate to keep Thaksin in gaol and away from power.

Very sad. They should get a job.

Maybe Doctors should probe the Mental Health of the petitioner. He seems to have a manic insistence and attraction to former Prime Minister Thaksin. It can’t be good for him to suffer this debilitating depression untreated?

That's what I do with the washing up gloves with the missus, saying " Let's play customs officer and drug smuggler!"

I'm having trouble keeping up with all the adjectives let alone the story.

The definition of a medical probe is " a long slender instrument for exploring wounds, body cavities, passages, or periodontal pockets".

I wonder which probe they used on Dr. Thaksin?

...."...certain doctors had violated a professional code of ethics....".... Yeah, everything can be fixed with Money.......

a few days ago I was in a big hospital for a big check, I most take a statine for the cholesterol before they know the results of blood test, LDL 93, HDL 67, is it the reputation to make Thailand a health hub here, very funny and ridiculous and irresponsible from some doctors.
