Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
Maybe the property companies have been complaining behind the scenes... Complaining in the open would be very "unthai" and would be a loss of face for the other side. -

Stabbing Incident in Pattaya Leaves Japanese Tourist Dead; Suspect Caught
RIP to a noble Japanese gntleman who tried to do the right thing. More English than Thai by his looks. He is a dual national. The girlfriend was also a farang. You may not think it appropriate to prevent a beating of a women, but many men who are raised right do. That is why the deceased and a Thai man tried to intervene. Looking at the smug murderer, he deserves the full impact of what's coming and being drunk won't wash. You can't murder Japanese tourists with impunity. They are exceptionally valuable and the Japanese are some of the biggest per capita spenders in Thailand. Unless the Thai authorities make an example of this idiot, there will be a financial impact. -

Thai Senate Approves Landmark Change to Child Discipline Law
Dude, you are all about your feel-feels over facts, keep on clutching your pearls about the "youth" just like every generation has done though out history. Wait till you find out what Sir Francis Drake was saying about the young uns' in his day, or even those pesky great thinkers of Ancient Greece, and how about hose Victorian and Edwardians, oh wait, you didn't hear what they said about the youth back in the 50s and 60s as well.... same <deleted>, pearl clutching old coffin dodgers whining. Keep clutching those pearls. -

Personal Goals For 2025
Was in Luang Prubang 18 months ago. A bit of a ghost town due to Covid, I hear it's slowly coming back. Used to have an amazing collection of SEA fusion foodie places, now down to 5. Laos food in the Luang Prubang style is frenchified Issan food. Didn't love Bhutan. Food is poor, temples are not nearly as good as Tibet/Nepal. The big plus was the very green Himalaya's. I'd say do it for 5 days. Unless you're doing the trek. That was like going back 100 years. But that's a 25 year old recollection. They've seen plenty of gringo's since. Prob still very other-worldly feeling tho, I am sure. Add Tahiti to my list and a mail boat drift back to Melbourne, and my bucket list is done. -

Russia has a history of downing passenger planes — and covering it up
Your revisionist history is factually incorrect. No order to land was given. On the contrary, the Russian general who ordered the aircraft to be shot down was aware of it being a civilian aircraft and chose to act on his own. (Putin has promoted this madman to General of the Army). The senior political leaders of Russia were not informed. They would not have allowed this error to have been made. Following the incident, Russia denied involvement for 5 days and blocked any foreign recovery efforts. The black box, later found by the Soviet Union, confirmed that Korean Air 007 was not conducting any reconnaissance operations, and the plane had merely deviated from its course. The pilots had failed to verify their autopilot settings. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, President Yeltsin handed over all case materials to international organizations and the cascade of errors was revealed. Putin refuses to accept responsibility for Russia having fired the missile and had the aircraft not survived he would have been as dishonest about this event as he was with the dowinng of the KLM flight. The Azerbajabians are furious and rightly so. Russia has a shoot first and ignore the consequences attitude. It is a natation of barbarians.
