Well-known fashion designer, Vatanika Patamasingha Na Ayudhaya, affectionately known as Prae, recently took to her personal Instagram account to seek help identifying a foreign man who allegedly stole glasses from her clothing store VATANIKA in Chidlom. The post, which included CCTV footage from within the store, has sparked a flurry of comments and shares across social media platforms.

The 44-second video clip shows a man, who appears to be of foreign nationality, casually browsing the store before taking a pair of glasses and placing them in his trouser pocket. He then exits the store without paying for the merchandise.

 

The text accompanying the video clip requests the person, or anyone related to the incident, to contact the VATANIKA Chidlom store as soon as possible to return the merchandise or make payment, reported Sanook.

Since Prae posted the video, there has been a significant number of comments. Many have suggested that the post should be translated into English, as the man appears to be foreign.

I saw the video and 'casually browsing' did not come to mind. I would have said 'casing the joint'.

Yeah, he was definitely not there to browse. As soon as he saw those glasses, he looked around and saw an opportunity. Then, "casually browsed", likely as he was heading for the exit.
Amazing that a store with expensive goods don't have alarms at their door to detect things they leave out that are so easily pocketed.
Sure hope immigration gets ahold of this dirtbag.

What an anus! Please catch him and give him a 6 months stay at the "Hilton".

High end store, low level crook. Some crooks live long lives, but are still crooks.

So now we no longer use the police to catch this <deleted> bags we go to Instagram, it's no wonder this is happening with all the Russians that have no money coming here it's only going to get worse

Not very bright as he didn’t notice the camera filming him. He will be found with that pretty distinctive face…..looked Russian or Eastern European to me.

come on.. someone send this renowned Thai woman 100 baht to keep the foreigner out of trouble for stealing the display glasses ok.. haha.. 

Perhaps an old bad habit, not caused by financial problems. Gets satisfied by stealing.

Ive come accross a few cleptos in my life but none from memory were poor??  They did it more for attention.

It could be that member here who wanted to get back his 10k immigration fine, by stealing and doing runners from restaurants.

Well, yet another pristine example of quality tourism as sought for by the tourism officials of Thailand. 

Given the 23 million tourists Thailand apparently booked for 2023 it clocks ⅓ of the Thai population so - by statistics - does this mean, that only three Thais shoplifted? 

Find him and fine him - perfectly OK - but keep this breaking "news" within the limits it belongs ;-)

Maybe he can sell the glasses to buy food with the 'revenue'. He certainly doesn't look very healthy that's for sure. Distended gut, skinny legs, bad posture. 

 

Maybe he'd be better off in the Hilton. Looks like he'd be even worse off back home on the NI pension. I know I'd rather do my shoplifting in Bangkok than Stoke-on-Trent.
