Tops deny planning to lay off employees

BANGKOK: -- Tops Supermarket denied Friday that it planned to lay off workers because of baht appreciation.

Phattharaporn Penprapat, spokesman of the firm, said Tops would instead open 4 to 5 more branches.

He said Tops now has 97 branches and managed to meet its growth target and its business was not affected by the strong currency at all.
