I think not, but things could have changed recently, so please consider this a genuine question. In that case, however, there probably haven't been many (if any) reports by "people with significant history" yet, so it would be difficult to answer the question how difficult or relaxed airport immigration is there. Just says that they COULD handle international traffic. The two immigration desks at Khon Kaen's International Departure Lounge were only for Air Asia's "Fly Thru" passengers. I regularly flew with Air Asia from KKC to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Burma. (pre-covid). Very convenient as one by-passed immigration in DMK. I believe this arrangement still exists. Baggage checked in at KKC collected at destination. Again, no involvement with luggage at DMK. Technically, one departed Thailand at Khon Kaen and was in transit at DMK. Air Asia ground staff at DMK escorted passengers from domestic arrivals to international departures with no immigration involved. To my knowledge Udon Thani Airport does not offer this facility. Just a few days ago I returned home to Siem Reap (Cambodia) from Chiang Mai with Air Asia's "Fly-Thru" service. It is like many other things in the land. An airport is an airport, handling airworthy transportation devices from blimps, bigger Zeppelin airships and, arguably more common, aircraft. The origin or destination is irrelevant to an airport. And that is applicable worldwide and not only to "Udon Thani International Airport". International refers to any border crossing matter, transport, communication, partnership etc. But this does not surprise me here in Thailand, 30 years ago the then-government, on the subject of religiously-inflicted political trouble in the South of the country referred to press article putting the two parties into "Thais" and "muslims".
