johnson36
My wifes Thai passport expires in March 2008 We are going to Thailand on the 30th November and returning to Uk on 15th January. ( she has an ILR ) What should we do about a new Thai passport ? can we: Get a new one in the UK before we go ? Get a new one in Bangkok while we are there or should we get a new one from the Thai embassy in UK when we get back in January ? Whats best ? Mahout Angrit
To be honest you can do any of your options If you apply in UK they quote 6 weeks but my experience is 4 weeks If you apply at passport office in Thailand you can collect it in 3 days If you apply at a passport office in Thailand and have it returned to your Thai address by courier it will take about a week. Wherever you apply she will have to go in person, if London she will need an appointment. If she gets a new passport before she returns to UK she simply carries the old and new passport to prove she has permission to enter UK with the ILR. Edit: It is B1073 Baht + courier fees (if used) in Thailand and £25 in UK + special delivery charges (if required) Edited July 22, 2007 by Mahout Angrit
