Unpaid Motorcycle Tax
This is one of the main reasons I will never buy nor sell a used bike in LOS. When it's time for me to upgrade, I donate the old one to someone who lives out in the sticks, green book and all. -

Crime Man Arrested for Robbing Cambodian Worker in Buriram – Police Reaffirm Protection for All
Picture courtesy of Naewna. Police in Pakham district, Buriram province, have arrested a 59-year-old Thai man following a robbery and assault on a Cambodian migrant worker. The suspect reportedly stole 4,000 baht in cash, claiming financial hardship as his motive. At approximately 09:30 on the 11 July, Police Lieutenant Krisada Katiyachan of Pakham Police Station received a report from Ms. Sareab Chuan, a 47-year-old Cambodian national, stating she had been assaulted and robbed by a man who had offered her a ride to the Thai-Cambodian border. Instead of delivering her to the border as promised, the man stopped the vehicle, attacked her, and stole her bag containing cash. Following the report, Police Colonel Anan Thongbanthoeng, Superintendent of Pakham Police Station, ordered an immediate investigation. Police used CCTV footage to identify the suspect as Mr. Daeng, a 59-year-old resident of Village 3, Sompoi Subdistrict, Non Din Daeng District, Buriram. A search team swiftly located and apprehended Mr. Daeng at his residence. Officers recovered Cambodian riel banknotes and other belongings worth over 20,000 riel, though the 4,000 baht in Thai currency had already been spent. The suspect admitted to using the stolen money to pay off two months of motorcycle instalments, get a haircut and go out drinking. According to Mr. Daeng’s confession, he met the victim at the Nang Rong bus terminal, where she was seeking transportation to the Rong Kluea border market in Sa Kaeo province. He volunteered to drive her, asking only for petrol money. After she gave him 80 baht for fuel, he drove towards a remote area, physically assaulted her twice and snatched her bag before fleeing. Ms. Sareab explained that she works in Ratchaburi province and was travelling back to Cambodia to visit her ill child. After the assault, she managed to seek help from nearby residents and report the incident to police. She expressed gratitude for the swift response and professionalism of the police, stating her intention to return to work in Thailand, where she has many friends and feels welcome. Police Colonel Anan reiterated the policy of Provincial Police Commander Major General Narongsak Prommata, stressing that law enforcement officers are committed to protecting everyone within the Kingdom, regardless of nationality. “Whether Thai or foreign, anyone suffering harm on Thai soil will receive equal protection and justice,” he said. Mr. Daeng now faces charges of robbery and assault. Adapted by Asean Now from Naewna 2025-07-12 -

Unpaid Motorcycle Tax
When buying a used vehicle, exchange should be completed at the DLT or very least authorised inspection station. This issue would have been highlighted. Take the green book and bike to the DLT, it's got to be re registered. -

Crime Police Officer Injured in High-Speed Chase with Street Racers in Chachoengsao
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A police pursuit of illegal street racers ended in a dramatic crash that left a police officer injured and two teenagers hurt. The incident occurred on the Chachoengsao–Suwinthawong Road in the early hours of the morning of 11 July. At approximately 01:00, officers from Mueang Chachoengsao Police Station were alerted to a group of teenagers engaged in illegal motorcycle racing near the Kasemrad Hospital overpass, heading toward Bangkok. Police Captain Annop Janphakdee, crime suppression inspector, along with a motorcycle patrol unit, responded immediately. Upon arrival, officers spotted a grey Honda Wave motorbike with loud exhaust fleeing the scene. Police ordered the motorbike to stop via a loudspeaker, but the rider accelerated instead. Captain Annop attempted to cut off the fleeing vehicle with his pickup truck while two patrol officers on a police motorcycle, Police Lance Corporals Kittisak Inrod (driver) and Kamphon Chankondecha (passenger), gave chase. As the chase reached the area near Wat Tontan in Village 5, Wang Takhian subdistrict, the suspect motorbike suddenly swerved to the right, clipping the front wheel of the pursuing police motorcycle. Both bikes crashed, skidding more than 30 metres along the road. L/Cpl Kittisak Inrod suffered head injuries and was found unconscious in the middle of the road. L/Cpl Kamphon was also injured, left confused and unable to recall the incident. The two teenagers on the fleeing motorcycle also sustained injuries in the crash. Captain Annop quickly reversed and parked his vehicle across the road to block traffic and prevent further problems. Emergency medical teams from Phutthasothon Hospital and Kasemrad Hospital were called to assist. L/Cpl Kittisak was found to have a large head wound and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. One of the injured teenagers, a 17-year-old identified only as “A”, told police that he had been riding pillion with his friend “B”, also 17. They had been racing with a group of 3–4 motorcycles when they noticed police giving chase. Initially thinking they should stop, “B” instead decided to speed up to escape, likely fearing arrest due to the illegally modified loud exhaust. Deputy Provincial Police Commander Colonel Somchai Yusawat visited the scene personally and instructed officers to collect all available evidence. He also ordered police to monitor the hospital, fearing that friends of the injured teens might attempt retaliation against police officers. Street racing has become a persistent problem in Chachoengsao, particularly on weekends and public holidays. Residents have repeatedly filed complaints due to the noise from modified exhausts and the danger the illegal races pose to traffic safety. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-07-12
