My issue was often the surface on which I used the mouse. Just a thought.

Peterphuket
For long time I have troubles with mouses, especially with Apple mouses the pointer shoots in all directions every time, and when using it with Google Earth, it is a complete disaster. With Logitech mouses it goes better but gives up early. Now I have been tempted by a Satechi mouse, and must say it has been working to my complete satisfaction for months. The Theory
Just a few times plug the mouse receiver (from usb port ) in/out while the laptop is off. Then try again.

snowgard
Try again? What? It's just a <deleted> fake mouse. Buy it and in some month you will learn the different. I bought it too before. You have a red light under the mouse and the real one have a unvisible light under the mouse. But up to you!!! If you want a fake, buy a fake!!! Interesting: I have no red light. Maybe your fake one was a real fake one and mine is a fake fake one. Be sure I will let you know if it stops working in the next month or year or so.
