Overstayed 1 Day Before Getting Extension On Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Well, I pretty much explained the whole situation in my title. I came here with a 60 days + 30 tourist visa and I was going to get the 30 day extension today, ive already been here for the 60 days and it, but the embassy was closed when I got there so i will have to go tomorrow. But that means I will go there with one day of overstay.

Ive heard that if you voulanteerily go and pay for your overstay you will not be jailed like what happens when you get caught with it.

But I was wondering if I will have any problems if I go tomorrow? Will I just pay the fine and get 30 days or will the tourist visa somehow be ruined and I will have to leave the country?

For the record you should be going to Immigration rather than any Embassy but suspect you just got the terms crossed.

Recent reports in Bangkok have been positive for those in your position. As long as you are polite you will probably be ok and the extension allowed.

FYI: you could have done this a week ago and not be in this position. The extension would still start from the end of your current permitted to stay time.

Well Ive got the 30 days now, I just payed a 500 BHT fine, no biggie.

Just want to add that a friend had a 5days overstay, payed THB 2,500.- in the Immigration and with a further THB 1,900.- she secured a 30days extension on her Tourist Visa.

Just dress nicely, be polite and you will have no problem.
