Popular Post mikebell
Just back from a MAMMOTH session at Jomtien Immigration. 1st job a 90 Day report - I know; do it on-line which I did but made a mistake & wrote GB Overseas. This is the 2nd time I've done it & it was accepted but not this time! It took an hour which was not a problem in the shiny A/C waiting room. Then I went to get my ticket for Re-Entry permit. The boy checked my docs; ensured I got correct photo-copies of relevant pages then dropped the bombshell, 'Come back at 1pm!' This was at 11.20! My as-yet-unpublished book entitled, 'Noodles at Noon', details how Cambodia's invasion plans swing into action just before the whole of Thailand shuts down. I need to re-name it with a special mention for the ironically-named Immigration force. So I waited. Just before 1pm all officials were behind their desks; the front four places in the queue were filled by agents holding weighty bundles. Precisely at 1pm the crowd surged forward. My tickets showed I was number 1 at counter 2. At 1.10 the officials deigned to notice me. I paid my 1000 baht & watched the undisguised abhorrence on one officer on counter 1 as she had to deal with farangs every few minutes. Finally my passport was returned to me & I went home; only to find my SIX MONTH re-entry permit lasts only until my Retirement 'Visa' runs out in six WEEKS! One of the questions on the form asks when will you leave/return? I filled in May 15 - June 19th. Apparently these dates were invalid. Nobody thought to mention this when they were checking & taking my money! 2 1 2

Nothing new. 3 1

Upnotover
So you'll presumably be getting your next extension before you go on your trip? Get a new re-entry permit at the same time, that'll be valid a year so will make up for your disappointment this time around. What is the warning?

Liquorice
Yep, a re-entry permit only protects your current permission of stay expiry date. Lesson learned. Just another golden nugget of information for future reference. An extension cannot be dated beyond the expiry date of your passport. 1
Popular Post Crossy
At least you're only out for a single re-entry permit, if you'd got a multi you'd definitely be crying in your beer. 4
Pattaya57
Seems more like a warning of don't be stupid. Of course a re-entry permit is only stamped until current permission of stay

Well, imagine the alternate thread title under different circumstances. "Refused Re-Entry Permit - Well pleased with the service at Jomtien" that would have been an epic thread
terryq
Quote One of the questions on the form asks when will you leave/return? I filled in May 15 - June 19th. Apparently these dates were invalid. Assume it was a standard TM13 form. If so I do not see a space for a return date. At the bottom of the form where it asks for the departure date and 'by (type of transportation') etc the 'TO' that appears after that is for the is the destination not the return date. Georgealbert
55555 Classic example of Hypengyophobia, with blame avoidance, for their own shortcomings and error. Waiting for next instalment, “extension of stay expired, as I was out of country.” 1
Popular Post marin
I did the same thing a few years ago. When I realized what I had done I got very embarrassed. I sure as heck did not go tell everyone about it. Seriously, think about it Mike Bell. 1
