In 2024, the ranks of the world's billionaires have swelled, with a record 2,781 individuals globally amassing a total wealth of $14.2 trillion. Among the newcomers this year are several notable figures, including renowned fashion designer Christian Louboutin, NBA legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson, and pop sensation Taylor Swift, among others.

Taylor Swift, at the age of 34, has become a billionaire largely due to the immense success of her Eras Tour, which generated over $1 billion in revenue across five continents. Her fortune, estimated at $1.1 billion, is derived from her music catalog, real estate holdings, and the earnings from her blockbuster tour, making her the first musician to achieve billionaire status solely through her songs and performances.

Magic Johnson, renowned for his illustrious career in basketball and subsequent business ventures, joins the billionaire ranks with an estimated net worth of $1.2 billion. Johnson's investments span various industries, including professional sports teams, movie theaters, Starbucks franchises, real estate, and healthcare.

Christian Louboutin, the iconic fashion designer behind the signature red-soled high heels, also joins the billionaire club this year with an estimated fortune of $1.2 billion. Louboutin's eponymous brand has achieved global recognition and acclaim, contributing to his substantial wealth.

Among the notable newcomers is Livia Voigt, who, at 19 years old, is not only the youngest newcomer but also the world's youngest billionaire. Inheriting a fortune of $1.1 billion alongside her sister Dora Voigt de Assis, Livia's wealth is derived from their stakes in Brazilian turbine manufacturer WEG, founded by their late grandfather Werner Ricardo Voigt.

The influx of new billionaires in 2024 includes individuals from various sectors, with manufacturing and technology being the most prominent. Self-made billionaires account for more than half of the newcomers, reflecting entrepreneurial success and innovation across industries.

Overall, the expansion of the billionaire class underscores the growing wealth disparity globally, with a select few individuals amassing unprecedented fortunes amidst economic challenges and uncertainties.

How nice for them, but meanwhile people that do real jobs helping others like nurses and ambulance drivers continue to struggle to get by, and finding food and a place to live in that ordinary people can afford is becoming harder by the day.

However, I'm so pleased that being pretty and singing pop songs is so rewarding.
