Hi there,

We are a family of 4 (soon to be 5). My wife and I are both 35 so we are too young to apply to the "o" visa. But we are fortunate enough to be able to retire next summer.

We now live in HK, and we like to stay in Asia, so of course Thailand looks like the best place to early retire.

I tried to get as much information from previous posts, and if I get it right, we will need to issue a 60 days visa in HK, then go out of Thailand and reenter for another 30 days. 30 days later we will have to go out and issue a new 60 days visa and so on. So we basically can stay few years but we will need to go out of the country 3-4 times a year.

Is there any other way for us? We don't want to work or open a business. Can there be any exception about the age restriction for the retirement visa?

Can we have a better option if we put some money? We are not rich - we plan to live on USD 20-30K a year.

TIA

Unless one of you is a Thai national, I would say that your options are VERY limited. :o

potenially could get educational visas for each for each of the kiddies, and the parents can extend their stay off each one of those.

But, international schools in Thailand ain't cheap. And that will eat up most of the proposed budget.

Thanks for your replies.

I just noticed how wrong was my first post - We will need to have about 8 visa runs a year. That's quite a lot, but I guess it's doable.

Still much better than to retire in HK or China.

A tourist visa will give you 60 days. This can be extended at any immigration office in Thailand for another 30 days. A total of 90 days for each visa.

All assuming of course that you will be able to get back to back visas for ever.
