Thinking seriously about escaping Khon Kaen next Songkran go somewhere cooler. Wondering if anyone on here from Nam Nao now if there is any short term rental properties there? Have driven through the area many times but never venture into the township (if there even is one). Looking for people who live there or know the area (not motherly advice 🙂 )  Appreciate any help

On top of Phu Taboeg mountain in Petchabun should be cooler. It is the highest point in that region. I went up there many times and always found it to be pleasant.

I have been through Nam Nao many times. I remember one time middle of summer ranger guard at the national park entrance was freezing 🙂

Mountains near Petchabun also nice and cool but a bit further for us

online weather shows normally 5-10 degrees cooler. Do you live there?

I live at the other side, not far from Lom Sak.

I don't believe those online temp numbers, not at this time of year, perhaps in 'winter'?

Sorry, can't help, same as you, only passed through.   But agree, should be a bit cooler, less concrete, more green.

Total district population <16k, so don't expect too much of a town.  Booking.com showing a few hotels:

Strangely, G maps not showing much at all, when they usually show more than B.com

Freezing?

well not literally lol, but he had his arms around himself keeping himself warm. Lomsak more towards Loei or Petchabun? Is it cooler there or similar to most of Thailand this time of year? I know Petchabun gets very hot. As you say at least 5 degrees drop up on the mountain. May actually be a better choice as it is a bit more developed than I imagine Nam Nao would be. Maybe easier to find accommodation, more facilities
