webfact
Picture courtesy of Khaosod A 44-year-old ex-primary school teacher, identified as Somkiat, has been apprehended in Bangkok for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old student in the presence of her younger sister. The incident took place on March 22 and the victim's parents reported it. The former educator was arrested by Deputy Inspector Prayul Pattulee while trading fried meatballs on a street in Bangkok. Somkiat, who previously taught at a school in Samut Prakan province, was dismissed following the allegations. He then moved back to his home province of Sisaket and later returned to Bangkok for work. He was detained during his street trade. During questioning, Somkiat admitted to the assault on his former student inside his car while her 9-year-old sister was present. He blamed his loss of control for the incident. The victim's parents, upon discovering the incident, demanded 25,000 baht (US$670) in compensation. Somkiat, lacking the complete money, initially paid 10,000 baht (US$270) and agreed to pay the rest in monthly installments of 1,000 baht (US$27). After his dismissal, he resorted to selling fried meatballs in Bangkok for employment. Somkiat was charged with sexually assaulting a minor under 13, regardless of consent, and indecent conduct towards a person under 15, irrespective of their agreement. His detention hearing is due tomorrow. -- 2024-05-01 Get our Daily Newsletter - Click HERE to subscribe 3 3

Popular Post Korat Kiwi
Monetary compensation is rife in this country when it comes to sexual deviants. Why for the life of me does this persist? Lock the sick fakrs up and throw away the key. Hopefully natural justice will be to the fore while they are incarcerated. These piss weak excuses that are offered just don't cut it. Black and white cases don't have a defence to worm their way out of punishment. And the parents should be safeguarding their children against these predators. I hate to think what my reaction would be should it have occurred to any of my children. 1 1
2long
The poor kids' parents should be arrested for encouraging child abuse. They should have aimed high (1,000,000B and castration) in order to deter others and at least take some of the pain away!

I'm not sure which is more sad... the assault or the parents actions? 3 1

Only reported him to police when he didn't come up with the full bribe money, it seems. What a wonderful culture. Photoguy21
If it was my daughter he would get a lot more than the police hand out and I am sure many on here would be the same. Why are the parents just reporting such abuse?
Chris Daley
I think this is a standard requirement for male Thai teachers.

You just have a higher price than the parents!
