so getting a retirement visa in penang is easier than in bkk???

You posted above in a family visa thread so have opened new topic. But we need to know what you are asking - you do not receive a "retirement" (O-A) from Penang unless you live there as they are issued in home country. What you receive in Bangkok is a one year extension of stay (you don't have to leave the country), not a visa. For on extension of stay you need to be over age 50 with 800k in bank account for three months or 65k monthly pension or a combination of the two.

What you may be thinking about from Penang would be a normal multi entry non immigrant O visa allowing up to 90 day stays for a one year time period. Have not seen any requirements posted; so not even sure they would issue.
